Qualche giorno fa qualcuno aveva scaricato un sacco di farina di fronte al rifugio di Marrakech. Per fortuna che uno degli operatori del rifugio se n’era accorto e aveva aperto il sacco. Dentro c’erano una mamma e 5 gattini. E faceva un gran caldo quel giorno, hanno rischiato di morire. La mamma pare piuttosto anziana e questa dev’essere la sua ennesima cucciolata. I piccolini apparivano magri e con infezioni agli occhi. Due sono stati subito ricoverati e gli altri 3 sono rimasti al rifugio. Ultimamente uno di loro appariva inappetente e svogliato. Allarmati, abbiamo chiamato il veterinario. Ma qualche ora prima che il veterinario arrivasse il piccolo è morto. Siamo afflitti e ci sentiamo impotenti di fronte alla sofferenza sopratutto quando si tratta di cuccioli che ancora non hanno vissuto quasi niente della vita eppure hanno già sofferto.
Terremo monitorati gli altri cuccioli e anche la mamma.

A few days ago someone had dumped a bag of flour in front of the refuge in Marrakech. Luckily, one of the shelter workers had noticed and opened the bag. Inside there were a mother and 5 kittens. As it was very hot that day, they would have probably died in the sun. The mother seems quite old and this must be her umpteenth litter. All the kitten were very thin and had eye infections. Two were immediately hospitalized and the other 3 remained at the shelter. Lately one of them seemed to have no appetite and listless. Alarmed, we called for the vet. But a few hours before the vet arrived the little one died. We feel miserable and helpless in front of such a suffering, especially when it strikes puppies who have not yet experienced almost anything of life and yet have already suffered.
We will keep the other puppies and the mother monitored.
