La fattoria di PAN è -lo dice il nome- una fattoria. Ed è anche un rifugio per animali feriti e abbandonati. Si trova a 40 km da Marrakech ed è gestita dall’associazione locale PAN (Protection Animaux et Nature). Come Ànbara ci appoggiamo ad associazioni locali di fiducia per condurre le attività all’estero e a queste associazioni facciamo capacity building nonchè affiancamento nella raccolta fondi e nella costruzione di reti associative. In Marocco abbiamo individuato PAN Marrakech con cui abbiamo firmato un accordo di partenariato in gennaio.
La fattoria si estende su 3 ettari di terreno coltivati a ulivi e carrubi. In un’area della fattoria, su un ettaro circa, ci sono delle cucce in muratura per i cani per il ricovero notturno. Di giorno i cani sono liberi di circolare su tutta l’estensione della fattoria (su tutti e 3 gli ettari!).
I gatti sono liberi e solo di notte li ricoveriamo in un grande salone per tenerli al caldo. Gli asini hanno una stalla a disposizione.
I nostri pelosi hanno sempre le crocchette a disposizione e delle ciotole di acqua. Per loro scegliamo del cibo di buona qualità (secco e umido) che integriamo una volta a settimana con carne bianca e verdure.
Un amico ci ha aiutato a fare delle sessioni di addestramento per i cani in modo da facilitare la convivenza con i gatti. Sta funzionando bene!
Grazie all’apporto dei nostri soci e di un donatore privato abbiamo già fatto tante cose: abbiamo scavato un pozzo, sistemato la stalla e cominciato la costruzione delle aree per i cani. Abbiamo anche creato un orto tra i filari di ulivi. Molto però rimane ancora da fare. Ma di questo parleremo nei prossimi post.

PAN’s farm (a multi-episode story) – Episode III
PAN farm is – as the name says – a farm. And it is also a shelter for injured and abandoned animals. It is located 40 km from Marrakech and is run by the local association PAN (Protection Animaux et Nature). As Ànbara, our approach aims at identifying trusted local associations to carry out our activities abroad and at reinforcing them as well as assisting them in fundraising and in networking. In Morocco, we have identified PAN Marrakech with whom we signed a partnership agreement in January.
The farm extends over 3 hectares of land planted with olive and carob trees. Within the farm, covering approximately one hectare, there are brick kennels for dogs for overnight shelter. During the day the dogs are free to roam throughout the entire extension of the farm (all 3 hectares!). The cats are free and only at night do we shelter them in a large hall to keep them warm. Our donkeys sleep in the stable.
Our furry friends always have kibble available and bowls of water. For them we choose good quality food (dry and wet) which we supplement once a week with white meat and vegetables.
A friend helped us do dog training sessions to make living with cats easier. It’s been working well!
Thanks to the contribution of our members and of a private donor we have already accomplished many things: we dug a well, fixed up the stable and started building the areas for the dogs. We have also created a vegetable garden between the rows of the olive trees. However, much still remains to be done. But we will talk about this in the next posts.
